Wei Yao is currently a Ph.D candidate in the Department of Computer Science at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), co-advised by Professor Guiling (Grace) Wang and Professor Fadi P. Deek.

He holds a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Hartford and Master’s degree in Computer Science from Central Connecticut State University, and Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST).

Besides academic research, his industry experience includes software engineer and product manager at the ENN Group. He also serves as a mentor for several open-source projects at the Linux Foundation and the Hyperledger Community.

Research Interest

Wei has a broad spectrum of interests in blockchain consensus, decentralized applications, artificial intelligence, health information exchange, and computer networks. His research aims to build widely used decentralized applications based on blockchain for different areas and solve critical issues preventing the blockchain from being used.
